Acting Career
Yes acting is a career. It is not something
you try out in hopes to get famous. It’s just like
being a doctor, an engineer or a lawyer but unfortunately
has a lot less stability. If you’re interested in
making money there are many other professions out there
that are a lot more stable and lucrative. Acting should
be something you love to do because it’s a tough business.
If you want to pursue acting as a career
the first step is to get properly trained. (You can refer
to section that discusses acting classes for more information).
Next start doing community plays and short films. Most of
these will most likely be non-union projects meaning little
or no pay.
After some experience you might be able
to look for an agent. After obtaining headshots you can
send out a mass mailing to agents. You can get a list of
sag-franchised agents by calling sag or going to lacasting
to search for an agent list. This is just a bit of advice
to get your acting career
started.
