Acting Auditions
Acting for auditions is a complete
different skill set than acting in a scene. Unfortunately,
the audition process isn’t as natural and comfortable
as doing a scene with a scene partner and often an actor
feels very vulnerable walking into a room with someone he
barely knows.
Many casting directors do not act with you
but simply read the lines back. Of course not all casting
directors do this but as an actor
you must be prepared for any situation. It is inherit on
you the actor to be able to expect this and not rely on
the casting director for any help.
If you are struggling with auditions it
might be wise to take an acting
audition class. These classes typically give you sides
and a short period of time to prepare for the mock audition.
Then your teacher will bring you in like an audition and
critiques will be giving after you are done. Depending on
your teacher he may or may not put your Acting Audition
on tape.
